Welcome to Mrs. Townsend's Website!

About the Teacher:

My name is Kim Townsend. I am a high school biology and environmental science teacher at Castle High School in Newburgh Indiana. I am also an adjunct biology professor at Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville, Indiana. I began my teaching career in August of 2000 upon my graduation from the University of Evansville. I also completed my master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Evansville. I am currently a student at Miami University working towards a Master's Degree in Zoology. I enjoy participating in inquiry based field research. In July 2010, I studied coral reef ecosystems and community based conservation in Belize. This past summer I went to China to volunteer at a Panda Sanctuary then I spent two weeks working with wildlife biologists in Mongolia! I work part time as a nationally certified fitness instructor. I teach everything from cardio-kickboxing to yoga and Pilates. Teaching aerobics keeps my mind and body fit and has made me a better teacher and motivator! I love training for athletic events with my friends. I am an avid cyclist and runner. I am an animal lover and I am active in the Wessleman Woods Nature Society and the Orangutan International Foundation. Aside from adventures and my passion for teaching, I enjoy scrapbooking and of course, working out! Helping students learn today so that they can lead tomorrow!
